Win a Super Bowl and get paid.  That seems reasonable.  That's what Matthew Stafford just did.  The Super Bowl winning quarterback is staying in Los Angeles for a little bit longer.

After defeating the Bengals in the Super Bowl he agreed to a three-year, $129 million extension with the Rams on Saturday.

According to Ian Rapoport, he took less than he could have to help add to a Super Bowl caliber team.

$43 million a year isn't bad for taking less.  Doing so to stay in Los Angeles a little longer isn't bad either.  You have to leave a little for McVay and company to spend, they don't believe in draft picks.
