It's safe to say the Cleveland Browns aren't sold on Baker Mayfield as their quarterback of the future. They're traveling to Houston on Tuesday to meet with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The meeting with the Browns comes a day after the Saints and Panthers both met with Watson.
From Pro Football Network:
The Cleveland Browns are set to meet with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson on Tuesday in Houston after being granted permission to talk with the three-time Pro Bowler. They will work to sell him on their vision for him as a potential trade acquisition once the NFL free agency period opens, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
The Browns’ leadership team will attempt to convince Watson that he should waive the no-trade clause in his $156 million contract for them one day after he met with the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers, according to sources.
Just when you thought the Browns were just pretending to be interested in Watson. There's nothing like pissing off your current starting quarterback by meeting with another quarterback. If they don't land Watson they're going to have a pissed off Mayfield. Maybe that's ultimately the plan.
