It was reported last week that the Cowboys would likely release wide receiver Amari Cooper by the start of the new league year. If they do release Cooper, he will draw interest from at least a couple of teams.
One of those teams is the Patriots. According to reports Bill Belichick sees Cooper as a true No. 1 receiver for quarterback Mac Jones.
From Larry Brown Sports:
Jordan Schultz of Boardroom reported on Monday that the New England Patriots would have great interest in signing wide receiver Amari Cooper if he is released by the Cowboys. Schultz adds that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick sees Cooper as a true No. 1 receiver for quarterback Mac Jones.
Schultz also mentions the Miami Dolphins as another team with significant interest in adding Cooper as another downfield target along with Jaylen Waddle and DeVante Parker.
It's been awhile since the Patriots have had a true No. 1. Mac Jones proved last season that he's worthy of a No. 1 wide receiver. Cooper would be a really nice addition to the Patriots offense.
