Tuesday night was not A's pitcher Chris Bassitt's night. The right-hander was carted off the field after taking a line drive to the face. He remained conscious and received stitches.
According to manager Bob Melvin, Bassitt's eye was okay. The ball hit just below the eye and cut his face.
Prayers 🙏 for Oakland pitcher Chris Bassitt
This video is not easy to watch. Hope he is OK.

You hate to see it. It's an unfortunate part of the game and it should be pointed out that it's a rare part of the game as well. One day when we're all marshmallow soft there will be a net or a protective bubble or something. Thankfully we're not there yet.
