Russian player Yana Sizikova was arrested at the French Open on Thursday on suspicion of match fixing.  The 26-year-old was being investigated by a French police unit specializing in match fixing since last October.

According to the reports the investigation into Sizikova, who lost her match on Thursday, began after a match she was involved in last year at Roland Garros.

From Le Parisien:

The Roland-Garros tournament is in turmoil, overtaken by a case of suspicious bets. According to our information, Russian player Yana Sizikova, 26, was arrested Thursday evening as she was coming out of her massage session after the end of her first-round women's doubles match between her and her partner Ekaterina Alexandrova in the pair Ajla Tomljanovic and Storm Sanders. The player, who lost her match 6-1 / 6-1, was taken into custody in the premises of the Central Service for Races and Games (SCCJ) of the judicial police for "sports corruption" and "gang fraud" organized ”, according to the Paris prosecutor's office.

According to our information, the arrest by the police was very eventful, the security service agents blocking her arrest. Searches also took place in her hotel room. The tenniswoman, ranked 101st in the world in doubles, is at the heart of an investigation opened last October by the Paris prosecutor's office for "organized gang fraud" and for "active and passive sports corruption" as revealed by the German newspaper Die Welt.

I have to admit I love a good sports scandal.  Add the fact that betting is involved with a player throwing matches and you have some big time drama brewing.  Grab the popcorn, this one is going to get really interesting.
