The Patriots terminated Julian Edelman's contract on Monday afternoon. Shortly after the move was reported, the soon to be 35-year-old announced his retirement.
Edelman said he was going to play until the wheels fell off, and after suffering a knee injury last season, the wheels have fallen off. Here is his announcement.

Edelman's longtime friend and former quarterback Tom Brady responded to his retirement as only Brady can.

Edelman spent his entire 11-year career in New England, which with Bill Belichick running the show isn't easy to do. It would appear that there aren't any plans on Edelman's part to join his buddies in Tampa. Should he find a spare wheel that might change.
