UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from MMA following his last fight. It took UFC president Dana White until Thursday night to accept it.
White, who had been trying to convince Khabib to continue fighting, posted a picture with the star fighter and announced that he was "officially retired."
The two reportedly met in Vegas this week to discuss Khabib's future. Whatever he'll be doing, it won't be in the Octagon.

White has now turned his focus towards putting together a fight for Khabib's vacant title. The UFC is finalizing a fight between Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title at UFC 262.
Khabib is a great fighter, but I think the biggest blow to the UFC is that they no longer have a fighter who grew up wrestling bears. That's going to be hard to replace.
