Cody Bellinger dislocated his shoulder during the NLCS last season celebrating a home run with a forearm bash. This off-season he had the shoulder, which popped out of place prior to the forearm bash, surgically repaired.
As a result of the surgery Bellinger has decided to retire the forearm bash. He says he's a handshake guy from now on.
From OC Register:
“Never again,” vowed Bellinger, asked when his shoulder would be ready to withstand a forearm bash this season. “I will be a handshake guy for the rest of my career, for sure. I will never go back.”
Be careful with those handshakes. You don't want someone to accidentally pull his shoulder out of socket with an overly aggressive shake.
Maybe just wrap Bellinger in bubble wrap before he takes the field so he doesn't shatter into a million pieces during a game.
