Gordon Hayward signed a big four-year, $120 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets this weekend after declining his $34.2 million player option with the Boston Celtics.
The surprising move makes Hayward the second max contract player to leave in free agency in the past two years. The other was Kyrie Irving.
Hayward's time in Boston was plagued by injury, including a devastating ankle injury that caused him to miss the entire 2017 season.
Hayward's wife Robyn is looking forward to a new start in Charlotte. She said as much while taking a parting shot at the Boston media.
Hayward must have gotten tired of the Celtics coming up short in the playoffs. He won't have such worries in Charlotte, the Hornets will be lucky to make the playoffs.
