Kelly Stafford, the wife Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, has been speaking out a lot lately. She's fired back at the media over the coverage of her husband and now she's taking shots at Michigan's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kelly shared a video speaking out against the "dictatorship" in her state. Despite all of the data and the CDC recommendations, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered more shutdowns of schools and businesses for the next three weeks.
"So I’m going to be very blunt, I’m so over it. I’m over living in a dictatorship that we call Michigan. I understand there’s a pandemic and I understand it’s very scary. I’m scared of it too. If you are at risk, do not leave your house until there’s a vaccine. But shutting down all these small businesses, things that people have worked their life for, shutting them down again is not the answer, because they will not make it. So once we are able to leave our house, once this dictatorship decides to let us have some freedom, there will be nothing left."

She is FURIOUS about businesses being shut down, and lives being ruined.

Kelly's not wrong. Shutting schools and small businesses down is going to cause more unnecessary damage. Organization after organization has been speaking out against the effectiveness of shutdowns.
She did later apologize for using the word "dictatorship," although she didn't really have to. There are certain governors who are enjoying the power that they feel the pandemic gives them.
