Former first-round pick Blake Bortles is back in the NFL after not signing with a team in the off-season. He spent last season as Jared Goff's backup with the Rams.
Bortles' first five seasons of his career were in Jacksonville as the Jaguars starting quarterback. With Broncos starter Drew Lock out 3-5 weeks with a shoulder injury he will backup the backup Jeff Driskel.
Update: Denver is signing former Jags’ and Rams’ QB Blake Bortles to a one-year deal once he passes his COVID protocols, per source.
With Drew Lock out 3-5 weeks, the Broncos almost signed Bortles last year and now will take the next step this year.

The NFL needs more guys like Blake Bortles. The fact that he's back in the league is a good thing, although the Broncos are probably hoping he never steps foot on the field during a game.
