Wide receiver Josh Bellamy, who was released by the New York Jets on Tuesday, was arrested and charged for his alleged role in a $24 Million COVID-19 relief loan scheme.
The 31-year-old is facing charges of fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud.
Bellamy allegedly received more than $1.2 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans for his company Drip Entertainment LLC. He is accused of spending some of that money at a casino and on luxury goods.
From ESPN:
According to the Justice Department, Bellamy spent more than $62,000 in loan money at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida. He also is accused of using more than $104,000 for luxury goods, including purchases at Dior, Gucci and various jewelers, in addition to withdrawing more than $302,000.
Ten other defendants were allegedly involved in the scheme.
The PPP allows qualifying small businesses suffering financial hardship from the COVID-19 pandemic to receive low-interest loans.
Talk about a shitty week. Bellamy lost his job and the government arrested his ass.
Bellamy would have been better off looting. You can steal just not from the government.
